X AIR App Review

As a professional audio engineer, I have worked with various analog and digital boards over the years. Recently, I purchased the Behringer Air X18 desktop digital mixer and have been using the X AIR app to configure it. Here's my detailed review of the app:

• Custom panels to see all 16 channels
• Reliable configuration of XAir 18
• Freely available app of high quality
• Tap button for echo delay timing
• Near zero latency
• Layers for BUS similar to mains
• Renaming and color-coding of layers

Pros

• Easy to use
• Works well with Samsung tablet
• Great effect for school marching band
• Connects well and makes it easy to make fine adjustments from anywhere in the room

Cons

• Disappointing recording aspect
• Weak wifi connection between tablet and XR-18
• Changing screens to access channels can cause problems in live applications
• Noticeable pause when adjusting FX

Overall, I have found the X AIR app to be a great addition to my audio setup. It is easy to use and has a range of useful features, such as custom panels and layers for BUS. I particularly appreciate the near zero latency, which makes it easy to adjust effects in real time. However, the weak wifi connection can be frustrating, and the recording aspect is not as good as advertised. Additionally, the noticeable pause when adjusting FX can be a bit of a nuisance. Despite these drawbacks, I would still recommend the X AIR app to anyone looking for a reliable and easy-to-use digital mixer app.
